The Importance of the Last Ten Days of Ramadan
Introduction
The last ten days of Ramadan are the most spiritually powerful days of the Islamic year. As Ramadan comes to an end, Muslims are given a final opportunity to seek forgiveness, increase worship, and strengthen their connection with Allah.
These days hold immense blessings and include one of the nights ever granted to humanity — Laylatul Qadr.
The Practice of the Prophet ﷺ
Aisha (RA) reported that when the last ten nights of Ramadan began, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would increase his worship, spend the nights in prayer, and awaken his family to engage in acts of devotion.
— Sahih al-Bukhari
This teaches Muslims that the final portion of Ramadan requires greater effort and spiritual focus.
Laylatul Qadr — The Night of Power
Laylatul Qadr is described in the Qur’an as a night better than a thousand months. Worship performed during this night carries rewards greater than worship performed over many years.
Because its exact date is unknown, Muslims are encouraged to seek it throughout the odd nights of the last ten days.
Acts of Worship to Increase
During these blessed nights, believers should focus on:
-
Night prayers (Qiyam or Tahajjud)
-
Recitation and reflection of the Qur’an
-
Sincere supplication (dua)
-
Seeking forgiveness (Istighfar)
-
Giving charity
-
Self-reflection and repentance
Even small acts done sincerely can bring immense rewards.
A Time for Forgiveness and Renewal
The last ten days are not only about worship but also about spiritual renewal. Muslims are encouraged to forgive others, purify their hearts, and reconnect with Allah with sincerity and humility.
These nights may be our final opportunity to gain forgiveness before Ramadan ends.
Conclusion
The last ten days of Ramadan are a priceless gift. They remind believers that no matter how their Ramadan began, it is never too late to finish strong.
By dedicating these nights to worship and sincere repentance, a believer may leave Ramadan spiritually renewed and closer to Allah than ever before.
May Allah allow us to benefit from these blessed nights and grant us the rewards of Laylatul Qadr. Ameen.
